The Colorado theater massacre happened on the biggest premiere of the summer “The Dark Knight Rises“. But how bad did this effect the box office and did this hurt attendance at theaters for fans of batman.
In a press release Warner Bros and other movies that opened this past weekend. Have made a decision to hold back the numbers and estimates for the weekend premiere of “The Knight Rises“. Do to the horrific tragedy that occurred the studio reportly wants to give respect for the victims and their families.
The repercussion of the Aurora, Colo., shooting spree, injured 58 victims and left 12 dead. Unfortunately this tragedy has created a unprecedented situation for WB, theater owners and moviegoers. Uniform and undercover police across the nation have stepped up security at theaters. AMC, located in Los Angeles and one of the nations largest theater chains, bans face-covering masks and fake weapons.
At this time its hard to predict the estimated box office numbers for the The Dark Knight Rises. But based on what is known it appears that the opening weekend estimates are between $158 million by by "The Dark Knight" in 2008, and the second best, the $169 million put up by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" last year.
Before the shoot occurred “The Dark Knight Rises” was predicted to give Disney and Marvel’s Avengers a run for there money. Which grossed $207 million, for the largest opening weekend of all-time.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.
My prayers go out to the families and victims of the Aurora, Colo shooting...........
